I attended a gathering today of people interested in community related to people with disabilities. It was a group of deeply committed, passionate people who care deeply about people with disabilities living meaningful lives. I talked about Enright Ridge Urban Ecovillage as a possible type of community. People come to our ecovillage because of a strong commitment to the Earth but also for community. I feel that there is a need for a strong commitment to something that will bring people together in community. A deep love of Earth is one possibility. There are others like spiritual communities that can also give this sense of commitment. It is finding that commitment that others will be drawn to that will help make community. And it’s a lot easier to create such a community in an existing neighborhood. Starting from scratch in building an intentional community is a difficult task.
This was an amazing group of people. I look forward to meeting with them again.
